Johannes Võerahansu used rather laconic colour schemes and was very good at adding nuances and details to melancholy shades. At the same time, he was also good at handling paints. This work was painted in 1954, which is somewhat unexpected, as this was a time when both paints and joie de vivre were in short supply. Võerahansu, however, is very generous: there are bouquets on two different levels and a white sheet serves as the backdrop which further highlights the blue, red, pink, yellow and green hues of the blossoms. Võerahansu’s painting is not a typical floral composition: he has not depicted a still life, but rather a scene that is playful and lush.
