Jaan Vahtra (1882–1947)


Jaan Vahtra is known first and foremost as a Cubist and geometrist, who was a painter as well as a printmaker, teacher, caricaturist, etc. He spent almost his whole life in Southern Estonia, yet he studied art in Riga and St. Petersburg. He later worked at numerous jobs in Võru and Tartu, including as a teacher at the Pallas Art School.
