Aleksander Uurits (1888–1918)

Aleksander Uurits was first mentioned in 1903. Ants Laikmaa’s student, who was still only 15 years old, was mentioned then in an art exhibition review as a promising artist. Uurits later studied in St. Petersburg and after a brief stay in Paris, he returned to Russia. At some point, Uurits came down with malaria and died barely fifteen years after he had first been mentioned. There are paintings, prints, illustrations, murals and panel paintings, and other such works in his oeuvre.
